| The Dräger Low Profile Escape Shelter model DSSI UGC 10-48 is specially designed for use in low seam
underground coal mines to provide a safe haven in the event of a situation yielding a non-breathable atmosphere
(IDLH atmosphere) underground. This situation may develop for example in case of an explosion, fire, cave-in or
other accident. In an emergency the underground workers may isolate themselves from the IDLH atmosphere if
the escape route is too long or blocked off; and wait for rescue. |
|
| The escape shelter is designed along the guidelines stated in State of West Virginia Emergency Rule Title 56 Series 4 – Rules Governing Protective Clothing and Equipment section 56-4-8 Emergency Shelters/Chambers. |
|
| The shelter is designed to accommodate 10 people, and to provide these people with life support to last up to 48
hours independent of external electrical or air supply. |
